Mizar Weekly | Recycling Potential of Twin & Earth Cables

Twin & Earth (T&E) cables are one of the most common types found in residential and commercial electrical installations. They are widely used by electrical contractors, especially those working on residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Other common users include construction companies, utility providers, data centers, and telecommunications companies.

These cables are relatively easy to recycle, making them a valuable raw material in the recycling industry. While manually stripping Twin & Earth cables can be time-consuming, they are perfectly suited for processing with a granulator, which increases efficiency and copper recovery rates.

On average, Twin & Earth cables contain around 40–55% copper, making them an attractive material for recyclers. The rest consists mostly of PVC insulation, which can also be separated and repurposed. With the right machinery, these cables can be processed quickly, ensuring a higher yield and better profitability.

By integrating advanced granulation systems, recyclers can maximize material recovery from T&E cables while reducing labor costs. This not only supports environmental sustainability but also boosts return on investment by turning a common construction waste product into a steady source of high-value copper.
